The technological process of manufacturing seamless steel pipes consists of three steps: manufacturing a hollow body (sleeve), manufacturing a pipe from the sleeve, and the final operation.<\/p>

The most famous procedure for obtaining a hollow body is the so-called Mannesmann process using a pair of double conical rollers rotating in the same direction. A red-hot steel ingot is passed between these rollers, which, in addition to the rotational movement, also has a translational (straight-line) motion caused by the mutually inclined position of the rollers. <\/p>

These two movements cause the metal to separate in the middle of the ingot. A mandrel enters the resulting opening, so that the wall of the sleeve is rolled between the mandrel and the rollers. The sleeves processed in this way are then rolled into seamless tubes after reheating, whereby the walls are thinned and the tubes are elongated at the same time. <\/p>

The process is performed using calibrated rollers and mandrels. The distance between the rollers determines the outer diameter of the pipe, and the diameter of the mandrel determines the inner diameter. The final operations consist of reducing the pipe by rolling, calibrating, straightening, cutting and packaging. <\/p>

Seamless pipes are also known as “gas pipes”, because they are mainly designed for the flow of various fluids. They withstand higher loads, have better mechanical properties and a high degree of safety. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
